Why it matters

Scams cost Australia real money

Knowing a business is real and registered is a simple, powerful check before you get in touch or pay.

Australians reported A$2.03 billion lost to scams in 2024 and A$2.18 billion in 2025 (National Anti-Scam Centre, Targeting Scams reports). Phishing, fake messages and websites, was the single most-reported scam in 2025.
ASIC removed 11,964 scam and phishing websites in 2025, and more than 25,000 since 2023 (ASIC enforcement updates).
Scammers stand up fake websites impersonating real local businesses, and an estimated one in three victims never report, so the real losses are higher.

National Anti-Scam Centre (Targeting Scams); ASIC enforcement updates. Figures last verified July 2026.

See a sticker? Check it in seconds

Verified businesses display a numbered Hereabouts HQ window sticker. Anyone can check one, no account needed.

Scan the QR on the sticker with your phone camera, or
Type the number (like AU-047) at /verify
See the business it belongs to, confirmed against the Australian Business Number register.

Why it matters: if a sticker is on a business that doesn’t match, that’s a red flag you can report. Verification confirms a business is real and registered, it doesn’t mean risk-free, so it’s one more check before you hand over your details or money.

Verification confirms a business is real and registered against the Australian Business Number register, nothing more. It does not mean a business is endorsed or risk-free.

Businesses on paid plans receive clearly labelled priority placement in search results. Built and run by an Australian cyber security firm, so trust, privacy and verification aren’t add-ons, they’re the foundation.
